Overspeed Motorsports is one of the most long standing and trusted names in the Mazdaspeed community. Their facility, packed with state of the art machining and engine building equipment, are ran by experts that understand this platform more than anyone. Their engines are made to the highest quality, utilizing specialty tools and processes, such as ultrasonic cleaning, aqua blast vapor-honing surface treatment, line honed mains, rotational balanced in house up to .2 grams, micropolishing crank & cam journals, and more!

All engines are sold with a workmanship warranty provided by Overspeed. Engines that are sold for a street application, are covered by Overspeed's 2 year, 24k mile limited warranty. This warranty will not cover any failures related to neglect, user/tuner error, or failure caused by external sources. (I.E. Piston failure due to clogged fuel injector, etc.) All warranty claims and repairs are to be handled and provided by Overspeed unless otherwise authorized.

FAQ

Q:What piston ring gap is used?
A: Piston ring gaps, as well as every tolerance related measurements are determined by Overspeed motorsports specifically for your build. Nothing is assumed or used as a one-size fits all. Even brand new items, such as rods get re-honed to ensure proper tolerances.

Q: How much power can this engine hold?
A: Overspeed Motorsports understands the power capacity of these engines and their capabilities more than anyone, that being said, they can spec and build the exact same parts to perform in a different manner. For street driven cars, looking to make no more than 550 whp, these engines can be built with reliability in mind and go for over 100k miles! Those who are looking to push more power in a race setting, can expect a much higher power rating, but with sacrificed longevity.

Q: Can I use my old turbo on this new motor?
A: Absolutely, just make sure any items that circulate oil are clear of any contaminants from any possible previous engine failure. Overspeed is not responsible for any failures related to debris circulated into the new engine from way of oil cooler, turbo, etc. being re used after an engine failure.

Q: What clutch do you recommend for this engine?
A: Per Overspeed, all clutches should go through a balancing prior to being used on this engine. From extensive experience, most aftermarket clutches do not come with a perfectly balanced flywheel and can impact the rotational balance of the engine, causing excessive wear on your bearings. Overspeed recommends XClutch kits as their first choice as they typically come in balance out of the box. Overspeed has noted that they do NOT recommend the ACT prolite flywheel, that they only would run their Streetlite flywheel.

Q: Is there an upgraded baffle plate included?
A: No, Overspeed uses the factory baffle plate in their builds as the added oil capacity from having the balance shaft deleted allows for more than adequate oiling, and to quote Overspeed, "if you starve your oil pickup with this setup, you've flipped the car."

Q: What is the lead time on this build?
A: Overspeed is typically able to build and ship within 2 weeks. Please allow extended timeframes around holidays, etc. They are humans too!

Q: Can I send my engine back for a core charge?
A: Yes, you can send your engine back for a core charge refund assuming the engine is a usable core. The customer is responsible for return shipping costs. If the engine has suffered a bearing failure, it will not be accepted as a good core.

Q: Can you do upgraded rods, or other custom build requests.
A: For the most part, there are very few applications that require any over-built parts. Overspeed understands the nature of this platform and the relevant parts are often overkill and diminish the end result. In some cases we can consider offering adjustments or upgrades, please reach out to us before placing an order via email. Sales@graveyardperformance.com
